Neuromuscular Therapy: This treatment addresses underlying causes of muscle pain and dysfunction. It uses specific massage techniques, stretching and home care to bring about a balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. The six physiological factors that can create or exacerbate pain patterns are considered. These are ischemia, trigger points, neural interferences, emotional stress, postural or biomechanical dysfunction and nutritional deficiencies. Deep Tissue/Swedish Massage: This is a more traditional relaxation massage based on Swedish techniques with a focus on chronic or acute pain if desired. This technique can improve circulation, help flush out the body's waste products, and increase energy.
Prenatal and Postpartum Massage: This is a great time to get bodywork! During pregnancy, the body goes through many changes to support the growing child. This type of massage helps support the expecting mother by easing discomfort caused by postural changes, improving circulation, and decreasing stress levels. Massage can be done lying on your side or in a reclining position in the last trimester. Sarah is Certified in Prenatal Therapy and Massage from Kate Jordan’s medically-based training, Bodywork for the Childbearing Year. She is trained in relieving pain conditions during pregnancy, massage during labor, and Caesarian rehabilitation.
Sports Massage: This type of massage is designed to enhance athletic performance, whether you're a competitive athlete or you're committed to your health and enjoy exercise. This massage focuses on stretching, increasing range of motion, and warming up (or down!) the muscles. Sports massage decreases muscle soreness, reduces the potential for injuries and aids in injury rehabilitation.
